Contrast Ratio
Contrast Ratio is the difference between the whitest white and the darkest black colors the display can show and are usually displayed as 800:1, 700:1, and 500:1 from higher to lower capability.
Infinite contrast ratios can be achieved by devices capable of emitting no light at all as their darkest color. Contrast ratio is most commonly considered in connection with displays that share the same light emitter for all pixels and employ an array of modulators for individual pixels, which manipulate their transmissivity or reflectivity.
Technological challenges make it hard to design a mechanism to block 100% of input light in these displays.
